Since China and Canada have different economic systems, China is developing on a diversified ownership economy, while Canada is running its economy by pure capitalism. It is obvious two different education systems run in those two countries respectively.
First of all, theory disadvantage. Thus, students need to do a lot of practices everyday to get questions and answers memorized without the actual understanding of how do those answers come. This method allows and even welcomes students have different answers with the same question, which is on the opposite of Chinese theory.
Secondly, in-class teaching disadvantages. General speaking, Chinese students are taught in class passively. That means it is only the teacher who teaches whatever he or she thinks as a necessary for students without actually getting students involved in.
That might cause more distractions from students, because they are not always interested in the contents.
For Canadian students, they have more discussion or even debates in-class. They have more freedom of addressing their own point of views.
This positive learning method can arouse their inspiration on study which will benefit them during the whole life. As I mentioned at the theory disadvantage above, Chinese students have tons of repeated homework in order to get standard questions and answers memorized. As a consequence of this, they might totally lose the interest in study.
I consider this as the biggest problem for students, and the country in a long run. Canadian students have much less pressure with homework.
They are asked to do less homework. Their homework requires skills in drawing, art, research instead of a single one. Fourthly, disadvantage on attitude of score. You might have noticed that there is no other country values score as important as China does.
Final exam score decides which direction you will go in the future. So, whether students, teachers or parents pay much more attention to scores than the actual ability they have got. But in Canada, they value students based on: It is obvious that this comprehensive performance rule gives students more opportunities to achieve their goals.
Finally, disadvantage on quality education. Although China is getting richer and stronger, the government has invested huge amount of money on education. While the average quality of life is much better than before, we have to admit that something is missing out here.
China is scarce of quality education. They are doing so not only because it is a necessary requirement to enter the university, but because they seriously take this action as the way to reward the society which has provided them many things since they were kids. Thanks for the A2A.
I think the major differences between education are as follow: 1. The goal of education. In China the main purpose is to let students learn as much as possible, knowledge is the most important.
